There are many life events that can cause trauma. Experiencing a medical emergency or health problem is just one. Medical trauma can look like;
A car accident, with or without injury
A difficult birthing process
Having a heart attack or stroke
A hospitalization or having unexpected surgery
A medical condition for which there is no known cause
Doctors who fail to listen to you!
This is just to name a few, very common, reasons why medical trauma takes place. It can affect your life in numerous ways. You might have feelings of worthlessness or fall into a depression. You might be angry that you can no longer lead the life you once did. And one of the worst feelings is that of wanting to give up, thinking that life is no longer worth living because you're not the same person you used to be, before the medical trauma.
The medical trauma I have sustained is more than I can share in one blog post. Through my life experiences with the medical industry and feeling like my voice wasn't being heard by many doctors, I learned some valuable lessons. First and foremost, I learned to speak up! NOBODY knows your body better than you! Learning to listen to your body is a skill I can help you develop. I can also guide you through the acceptance process and learning to adapt to a 'new normal' after a sustained medical trauma. There are many more skills we can develop together including, stress management, self-love and pain management techniques that can restore and build your purpose for surviving medical trauma. You did not just survive a medical trauma, you can learn to thrive!
Originally, I was going to offer a short 4-week class on healing from medical trauma, but after forming an outline and creating a guide for recovery, I realized that this is, at minimum a 12-week class. In 3 months, you can learn and implement the skills you need to lead a more fulfilled life and develop the acceptance needed to find your purpose for continuing this journey we call life! Reach out for a discovery call if you'd like to see how I can help you add value back to your life after your sustained medical trauma. Lending love and support.
